Bread in Five

After giving birth to our third child I've hit another milestone – six months post-baby. A lovely period really. More sleep and more smiles. Amazingly, they're all getting on so well with one another which is really cute. It's also funny how much alike they all look.

So it has been quite hectic and really the right time to experiment with – making bread. Just something else to add to my crazy days. I picked up a book at the library called “Healthy bread in five minutes a day” and wondered what the catch was. I started with the basic recipe and couldn't believe how simple it was. I threw yeast, water, salt and flour together, mixed it with a wooden spoon for 3 minutes, covered it for an hour and put it in the fridge. The next day I took a third of the mixture and shaped it into an oval (2 mins) leaving it out for a couple of hours. I then stuck it in the oven for 35 minutes and got a gorgeous crusty loaf for around 50 cents that would feed our family for two days.

There's not much else to it but the details are here and there are dozens of variations in the book. Seriously anyone could do this and be very satisfied with the results.
