Months ago I bought a small tub of yellow play dough for Katie. Eventually it hardened up and crumbs of it impacted into our dark blue carpet every time she used it. Well that got tipped out and I decided to make some up myself. This is the recipe we used:
1 cup plain flour
2 tbs cream of tartar
1 tbs cooking oil
½ cup salt
1 cup water
food colouring
This is probably one of the easiest things in the world to make. You just mix the lot in a saucepan over medium heat stirring constantly until the dough becomes thick and does not stick to the pan (about five minutes).
Katie wanted red play dough but it took quite a few drops of the red food colouring to make a nice pink colour and we decided to leave it at that. It has a really nice soft consistency and this time we’ll make sure to keep it well covered when not in use and see how long it keeps for.
